Alonzo Menifield delivered a powerful performance at UFC Macau, silencing the home crowd by defeating Zhang Mingyang via first-round technical knockout (TKO) in the co-main event.
From the opening bell, both fighters engaged in an intense exchange, with Zhang Mingyang starting aggressively with kicks and combinations. However, Menifield quickly found his rhythm, landing effective calf kicks and heavy punches. The fight escalated into a violent back-and-forth, with neither competitor backing down.
Menifield also found success in the clinch, using his strength to control Zhang against the fence. Despite Zhang’s attempts to reverse positions and land strikes, Menifield remained composed and sought openings.
The decisive moment came in the final minute of the round. After weathering some significant shots from Zhang, Alonzo Menifield retaliated with a powerful punch that knocked “Mountain Tiger” down. Although Zhang managed to get back to his feet, Menifield capitalized on the opportunity, unleashing a barrage of strikes along the fence. The referee intervened to stop the fight at 4:15 of the first round as Zhang was unable to intelligently defend himself.
This victory marks a strong comeback for Alonzo Menifield, who had previously suffered a first-round knockout loss. He now holds a UFC record of 11-6-1 and a professional record of 18-6-1.
For Zhang Mingyang, this loss is his second consecutive defeat. He now holds a UFC record of 3-2 and a professional record of 19-8.
