Nate Diaz has indicated that he has no immediate plans for retirement and has identified a preferred opponent for his anticipated UFC comeback. Diaz is set to re-enter the MMA arena this weekend after a four-year absence, facing Mike Perry on the MVP and Netflix card.
Prior to this significant bout, in a conversation with Ariel Helwani, Diaz was questioned about his interest in re-signing with the UFC. The fighter from Stockton emphasized his desire to avoid contractual obligations that would restrict his ability to compete in other promotions.
However, once he has concluded his current commitments outside the octagon, it’s highly possible that fans will see him back in the UFC.
Nate Diaz Aims for Charles Oliveira’s BMF Title
Nate Diaz has expressed his desire to face the new BMF champion, Charles Oliveira, upon his return to the UFC. Diaz was reportedly unimpressed with Oliveira’s performance at UFC 326, where the Brazilian secured the BMF title by defeating Max Holloway primarily through wrestling. Following Oliveira’s victory, Diaz immediately signaled his intention to pursue that championship.
During his interview with Ariel Helwani, Diaz named “Do Bronx” as the fighter he would ideally like to face when he steps back into the octagon:
“It was hard to jump back in, something I tried so hard for so many years to get out of. I can’t just jump right back in… Oliveira out of everybody. I’m gonna go back and get that belt.”
Nate Diaz also mentioned during the same interview that he is open to a trilogy fight with Conor McGregor. However, he believes the timing isn’t right currently, as both he and “The Notorious” have outstanding matters to attend to before a potential third encounter.
