UFC veteran King Green has shared his perspective following his victory over Jeremy Stephens at UFC 328.

At UFC 328, King Green secured another win inside the octagon by defeating Jeremy Stephens. Green has been a prominent figure at the elite level for a considerable time, and despite being 39 years old, he shows no signs of slowing down.

In his post-fight press conference, King Green offered insightful reflections on his personal journey and his triumph over Stephens.

King Green Reflects on UFC 328 Victory

“I honestly don’t even feel like I was in a fight, and I wasn’t satisfied with how I ended it,” Green stated during his post-fight media availability. “My intention was to knock him out and firmly establish myself as one of the greatest fighters to ever compete.

That’s what I was telling Dana (White) after the submission: I am among the greatest to have ever done this. If you examine my career record, you’ll see that I’ve consistently fought this way, engaging in battles and providing entertainment. That’s my essence, and that’s what I do. My age or any day-to-day changes are irrelevant to that.”

“I feel insignificant, like I am nothing,” Green admitted. “This feeling has been with me my whole life, even when people haven’t explicitly told me so. I still see myself as that impoverished kid, and I accept whatever is offered. The truth is, beggars can’t be choosers. Once you start feeling superior and demanding things, you have to question who you think you are. So, I remain humble and accept whatever comes my way.”

“A main event would be fantastic, primarily because of the extra $100,000 bonus. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but the main event fighter receives an additional $100,000. That’s the sole reason I desire to be in the main event.”

King Green Discusses His UFC 328 Win Against Jeremy Stephens

Following his victory over Jeremy Stephens at UFC 328, veteran fighter King Green has candidly shared his thoughts on the fight and his career. Green, a seasoned competitor, demonstrated his continued prowess in the octagon, securing a win against Stephens.

Despite his age, Green expressed a drive to continue performing at a high level, aiming to solidify his legacy as one of the sport’s greats. He reflected on his performance, admitting a desire for a more decisive knockout finish rather than a submission.

Green also touched upon his personal journey and mindset, revealing a persistent sense of humility and self-doubt that fuels his motivation. He humorously stated his primary motivation for headlining a card would be the additional financial bonus.

“I don’t even feel like I got in a fight, and I didn’t like the way I finished it,” Green said. “I wanted to knock him out and make sure that I’m solidifying myself as one of the greatest fighters to ever step on these mats.”

“And that’s what I was saying to Dana (White after the submission) is, I’m one of the greatest to ever do this. If you go through my catalog and really look at my catalog, I’ve been fighting this way, scrapping and making entertainment. That’s what I’m about and that’s what I do. I don’t care how old. I don’t care what happens, what the day changes. That’s what I do.”

“I just feel like I’m trash. I feel like I’m nothing,” Green confessed. “You know, I’ve been that way all my life. People don’t even tell me that all my life. I still look at myself as the broke little kid, and I just take what they give me. Beggars can’t be choosers. You start thinking like you’re high and mighty and trying to ask for stuff: Who the f*ck do you think you are, you know? So I just stay humble and whatever you give me is whatever you give me.”

“A main event would be dope just so I can get the extra $100,000. I don’t know if you know, but they give you an extra $100,000 if you’re the main event. That’s the only reason I want to do a main event.”
