The highly anticipated return of Conor McGregor to the octagon has been officially confirmed. He is set to headline UFC’s International Fight Week on July 11, taking on former featherweight and BMF titleholder Max Holloway.
This marks McGregor’s first fight since suffering a severe leg injury in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. Since his injury, McGregor has frequently expressed his desire to return, even having a previously scheduled fight with Michael Chandler in June 2024 fall through due to a training injury.
The upcoming bout at UFC 329 will be the second encounter between McGregor and Holloway. Their initial fight took place 13 years ago at UFC Fight Night 26, where McGregor secured a unanimous decision victory despite tearing his ACL early in the contest. Following that win, McGregor went on to achieve legendary status by knocking out Jose Aldo and becoming the UFC’s first simultaneous two-division champion.
Meanwhile, Max Holloway has established himself as one of the sport’s most formidable strikers, claiming the featherweight championship and earning the BMF title.
UFC 329 is also slated to feature other exciting matchups, including Paddy Pimblett facing Benoit Saint-Denis. Additionally, Olympic gold medalist and undefeated fighter Gable Steveson will make his UFC debut against Elisha Ellison.
