Preview Ryan Spann Finishes Marcus Buchecha with a Devastating KO at UFC Vegas 116

Ryan Spann made a spectacular return to the Octagon at UFC Vegas 116, securing a brutal second-round knockout victory over Marcus Buchecha in their main card opening bout.

Early in the fight, Spann found himself in a challenging position as the decorated BJJ world champion, Marcus Buchecha, managed to secure a takedown just 90 seconds into the round. However, Spann, nicknamed ‘Superman’, skillfully worked his way back to his feet. The grappling exchanges continued, with Buchecha attempting another takedown, only to briefly end up on the bottom before Spann broke free. In the final moments of the first round, Buchecha made one last attempt to take the fight to the ground, but Spann was unwilling to engage in grappling and kept the fight standing.

At the start of the second round, referee Herb Dean issued two warnings to Buchecha for extending his fingers.

Following the warnings, Buchecha resumed his pursuit of takedowns. When he was unable to bring Spann to the mat, ‘Superman’ launched a powerful straight right hand. The decisive blow sent Buchecha reeling across the cage, prompting the referee to immediately step in and halt the fight.

Official Result: Ryan Spann defeated Marcus Buchecha by KO (straight right) at 2:10 of Round 2.
