Kyle Daukaus admitted that he had contemplated a psychological tactic for his upcoming fight against Bo Nickal on June 14. The initial plan involved having Colby Covington accompany him to the octagon, with the intention of unsettling Nickal. However, Daukaus has since decided against this approach.
Daukaus is scheduled to face Nickal at UFC Freedom 250. Prior to the fight’s official confirmation, there were circulating rumors about a potential matchup between Covington and Nickal. Nickal had publicly expressed a desire to fight “Chaos” on multiple occasions, even suggesting a bout at the White House. However, after the fight card was set, Nickal accused Covington of avoiding the contest.
Tension between Bo Nickal and Colby Covington has been building since “Chaos” made disparaging remarks about the former during the RAF 05 press conference. This has fueled Nickal’s eagerness to fight Covington and challenge his criticisms.
The possibility of this fight now seems remote, as Covington, at 38 years old, has reportedly retired from the UFC.
Colby Covington Was Willing to Walk Out with Kyle Daukaus
“The D’Arce Knight,” Kyle Daukaus, intended to leverage Colby Covington’s presence in his corner on June 14 as a mind game against Bo Nickal. Daukaus disclosed that “Chaos” had agreed to the walkout. Nevertheless, Daukaus later abandoned the idea, and with “Chaos” now retired, the plan is highly improbable.
During a recent interview with Home of Fight, “The D’Arce Knight” stated:
“I will come out and say that I actually did message Colby, and I was like, ‘Yo dude, what do you think to walking me out to the fight?’ Just to kinda like, get the fans liking it, get it in Bo’s head. He agreed to it, but I was like uhh maybe I’ll just back off of this a little bit… Now he is retired so it is what it is.”
