UFC President Dana White has indicated that former two-division champion Conor McGregor is poised for a comeback to the octagon this summer.
McGregor has been notably active in anti-doping tests in 2026. “The Notorious” has kept fans engaged through consistent social media updates featuring his training, suggesting he is preparing diligently for his return after a five-year absence and aiming to secure a victory.
There are reports suggesting McGregor’s return could be in July during International Fight Week, potentially in a rematch against former champion Max Holloway.
While the UFC has not yet issued an official announcement, insider information suggests the Irish fighter is expected to compete in the welterweight division upon his return.
Speaking on The Jim Rome Show, Dana White shared his strong belief in McGregor’s summer return. He stated:
“I’m extremely confident it’ll happen this summer. There are a lot of great things going on behind-the-scenes that make me very confident that he will fight this summer.”
Max Holloway Discusses Potential Conor McGregor Rematch
Max Holloway has already commenced training for his next bout, though a contract has not yet been finalized. Holloway has expressed his desire for a rematch with McGregor and is actively preparing for such a possibility. In a recent interview with UFC on Paramount+, he commented:
“We don’t have nothing signed. Training camp looks like a regular training camp without a contract.”
Holloway’s last fight was earlier this year at UFC 326, where he lost his BMF title to Charles Oliveira.
Conor McGregor’s most recent appearance in the octagon was in 2021, where he suffered a first-round TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight, sustaining a significant leg injury.
