UFC London: Bantamweight Bout Canceled After Luana Carolina Misses Weight by 8 Pounds
The UFC London fight card has seen one bout cancelled just a day before the event is set to take place.
The highly anticipated Fight Night event is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at London's O2 Arena. The card will be headlined by a significant featherweight title eliminator featuring top-ranked Movsar Evloev against third-ranked contender Lerone Murphy.
During Friday's official weigh-ins for UFC London, Luana Carolina significantly missed weight for her scheduled bantamweight contest against Melissa Mullins. Carolina tipped the scales at 144 pounds, a substantial eight pounds over the 136-pound non-title limit. In contrast, Mullins successfully made weight, coming in at precisely 136 pounds.
Following the weigh-ins, the UFC ultimately decided to scrap the bout due to the considerable weight discrepancy between the fighters.
Melissa Mullins later expressed her disappointment, revealing that while she and Carolina had initially agreed to proceed with the fight despite the weight difference, the commission intervened and cancelled it, citing regulatory concerns.
Mullins, 34, was slated to compete at UFC London after a unanimous decision loss to Daria Zhelezniakova at UFC Baku in June 2025. The Coventry native holds a 2-2 record in the UFC and a professional record of 7-2 overall.
Meanwhile, Carolina, 32, last saw action at UFC Perth in September, where her three-fight winning streak concluded with a unanimous decision loss to Michelle Montague. The Brazilian fighter currently holds a 6-4 record inside the UFC.
This incident marks the fourth time Carolina has missed weight during her UFC tenure, establishing a concerning pattern. She previously missed weight in 2021 before a split decision win over Poliana Botelho, and again at UFC Vegas 85 in February 2024 for a flyweight bout against Julija Stoliarenko.
Furthermore, her planned clash with Montana De La Rosa at UFC Vegas 113 in March 2025 was also called off after she was unable to make it to the scale due to a difficult weight cut.
