Parker Porter Challenges Andrei Arlovski for "Predestined" BKFC Heavyweight Title Bout
Andrei Arlovski, a revered figure, has reclaimed his status as a world heavyweight champion. Now, another prominent fighter in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) heavyweight division has set his sights on "The Pitbull." Parker Porter, a former UFC heavyweight, recently secured an emphatic victory against Haze Wilson at the BKFC Mohegan Sun event on March 28th, marking a rapid ascent in his bare-knuckle career.
Arlovski himself achieved championship status swiftly, winning the BKFC title in just two fights. Porter was ringside at BKFC KnuckleMania VI in Philadelphia when Arlovski dethroned Ben Rothwell. Reflecting on Arlovski's championship performance, Porter offered his assessment:
“I believe he was absolutely dominant,” Porter stated. “He looked the best we’ve seen him in a long time, significantly better than his debut against Josh Copeland. While Ben [Rothwell] might not have been at his peak, it certainly played to Arlovski’s advantage. He was sharp, explosive, and fast.”
Porter continued, acknowledging Arlovski’s pedigree: “Someone with his experience and resources will excel no matter what he pursues, be it BKFC, MMA, or anything else. He possesses an incredible depth of knowledge, experience, and achievements. My ultimate hope is to get the opportunity to fight him.”
“It would be an honor, first and foremost,” Porter added, expressing his desire for the title. “Secondly, I want that belt, regardless of who holds it. But fighting Arlovski for the championship would truly be a dream come true. If he defends it against someone else before I get there, I just hope he keeps hold of it.”
A "Predestined" Clash: Arlovski and Porter's History Beyond BKFC
For Parker Porter, a potential bout with Andrei Arlovski extends beyond the championship itself. He revealed that he has long harbored a desire to test his skills against the seasoned combat sports veteran, independent of any title implications.
“Absolutely,” Porter affirmed. “We nearly fought once or twice during my UFC tenure, even before his retirement from the promotion. Now, with him in BKFC, holding the championship, and me aiming for that belt, it truly feels predestined for us to meet. I eagerly await that title fight.”
The BKFC heavyweight division is experiencing continuous growth, bolstered by rising knockout specialists like Leonardo Perdomo and former world champion Mick Terrill, who recently secured the BKFC UK heavyweight title. These talents, alongside a steady stream of intriguing new signings, contribute to a thriving landscape. As a ranked contender, Porter weighed in on the robust state of the division:
“Indeed, we’re seeing an influx of incredibly talented fighters, and the sport is gaining significant momentum,” Porter observed. “I was previously asked if BKFC was more suited for older, experienced fighters like myself, rather than younger prospects. However, with the increasing popularity and frequent events, I believe many younger athletes are now actively pursuing a career in BKFC.”
He elaborated, “Initially, the sport was so novel that mainly those with prior combat experience were willing to take the leap, thinking, ‘Hell yeah, I want to try this out.’ With this evolution, I anticipate an even greater surge of skilled heavyweights joining the ranks.”
