Daniel Cormier Backs Jon Jones Over UFC White House Card Snub: “He Seemed Crushed”
Former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier has expressed sympathy for his long-time rival Jon Jones after the promotion did not include him in the White House fight card. Jones recently asked the UFC to release him from his contract if they believe he has nothing more to offer. He also disputed UFC President Dana White's claim that Jones was never involved in negotiations for a June 14 fight.
Jones informed fans that he was actively preparing for the proposed White House event, even undergoing stem cell treatment for his arthritis to get ready for training. However, he stated that a "lowball offer" for his compensation ultimately prevented him from being part of the card. He later went live on Instagram, openly conveying his frustration and anger.
Despite their historically strained relationship, Daniel Cormier has sided with Jones on this occasion. Commenting on the UFC White House card situation, Cormier said: "I kind of felt bad for Jon because it seemed like he wanted to fight on that card bad. He seemed crushed. He’s laying in bed, and he’s crushed. I think this is kind of like a come-to-Jesus moment."
"The Problem Child" Jake Paul Invites Jon Jones to Most Valuable Promotions
Following the additions of Francis Ngannou, Philipe Lins, Ronda Rousey, and Gina Carano to the MVP roster, Jake Paul has now set his sights on Jon Jones. Earlier today, after a press conference, media members asked Paul if he would be eager to sign "Bones" for an MMA fight with MVP should Jones be released from the UFC. The 29-year-old responded: "Jon, you’re always welcome to come over to MVP. We’ll get you paid what you deserve."
