Dana White Offers Subtle Update on Conor McGregor’s 2026 Return
Following UFC 327, UFC President Dana White was questioned about the comeback of former double champion Conor McGregor.
McGregor has undergone extensive drug testing throughout 2026, ensuring he meets all requirements before any significant return discussions. While McGregor initially expressed a desire to fight on a June 14 White House event, it was later understood that the UFC would not leverage its biggest star for an event lacking profit potential.
Current speculation points to McGregor's return in July at UFC 329 during International Fight Week, with potential opponents including Max Holloway, Charles Oliveira, and Nate Diaz.
Latest Update Regarding Conor McGregor
The official fight card for UFC 329 has yet to be announced. During the UFC 327 post-fight press conference earlier today, when asked about Conor McGregor, Dana White responded:
"Same old."
This brief statement from White was made in response to inquiries about any new developments regarding McGregor's return. Despite the lack of concrete news, McGregor's manager reportedly met with UFC officials last month, indicating positive progress in negotiations.
McGregor himself has publicly stated his intention to fight in July, proclaiming his return to "save fighting again!" He posted on Instagram:
"The rumours are true! Mr. Confidence returns to save fighting again! Watch divine magic when I fight 🙏✨ Hey @paramountplus see you guys soon I’m so excited! And Born Ready. The Notorious Conor McGregor."
Additionally, McGregor posted on X, simply stating:
"LET’S GO! #GAMEON"
White's reserved comments might be a strategic move to build anticipation and avoid prematurely diminishing the excitement surrounding McGregor's potential comeback. While an official announcement remains pending, the ongoing testing and reported negotiations suggest that Conor McGregor's return to the octagon in 2026 is moving forward.
