Alvarez’s last appearance was in September 2025, where he suffered a decisive unanimous decision loss to Terence Crawford in their undisputed super middleweight championship clash. Following this defeat, Alvarez underwent elbow surgery.
Before his loss to Crawford, the 35-year-old Mexican star had been on an impressive six-fight winning streak, with notable victories over Edgar Berlanga, Gennady Golovkin, and Jermell Charlo. His career has seen only two other defeats: a loss to Dmitry Bivol in May 2022 and an earlier encounter with Floyd Mayweather in September 2023. Alvarez’s professional record stands at 62 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws, with 39 of his wins coming by knockout.
Meanwhile, Christian Mbilli enters this potential matchup following a draw against Lester Martínez in September 2025. Mbilli, also known as “Solide,” was later declared the WBC world champion after Crawford relinquished the belt. The 31-year-old Cameroonian-French contender boasts an undefeated record of 29 wins and 1 draw, with a formidable 24 victories by knockout.
