Preview Arman Tsarukyan Reveals His Heaviest Off-Season Weight

Arman Tsarukyan, a leading contender in the UFC’s lightweight division, recently shared details about his maximum weight during the off-season. The fighter, who has expressed interest in being a reserve for the main event of UFC Freedom 250, explained that his eating habits change dramatically between training camps and his downtime. He noted that during fight preparations, a dedicated chef assists him in maintaining a strict, healthy diet. Conversely, when he is not in active camp, Tsarukyan admits to enjoying unrestricted eating, often indulging in various foods.

“During camp, with my chef, breakfast consists of healthy options like eggs or yogurt with granola. Lunch is typically pasta, and dinner features fish or meat with vegetables. However, outside of camp or strict dieting, I eat whatever I desire. Currently, I consume a wide variety of foods, including burgers, and I particularly enjoy meats like steaks, BBQ, and fried chicken, along with Sushi.”

Tsarukyan Details His Maximum Off-Season Weight

In a recent conversation, Tsarukyan disclosed that his weight significantly increases when he’s not actively competing, sometimes surpassing the typical weight for a middleweight fighter. This substantial weight gain makes the cut back to 155 pounds for his lightweight bouts exceptionally challenging.

“Off-season, I reach about 86-87 kilograms, which is approximately 190 pounds. Reducing that much weight becomes very demanding; it requires cutting around 35 pounds.”

Despite his significant off-season weight, Tsarukyan, also known as “Ahalkalakets,” has previously indicated an interest in dropping to the featherweight division. His stated goal was to challenge Alexander Volkanovski, the current and two-time champion at 145 pounds.

At present, Tsarukyan does not have a UFC fight lined up. He has voiced his willingness to act as a standby fighter for the Ilia Topuria versus Justin Gaethje lightweight title unification match, slated for June 14. Should he not be required as a replacement, the 29-year-old Armenian anticipates his next fight announcement will follow a planned event at the White House.
