Deontay Wilder is set to return to the boxing ring on Friday night, facing Tyrrell Herndon.

Known as the `Bronze Bomber`, Wilder has been inactive since his knockout loss to Zhilei Zhang in June of last year.

This will be Wilder`s first fight since that defeat, which also marked the second time he missed a potential blockbuster bout against his long-standing rival Anthony Joshua at Wembley.

The loss to Zhang was the fourth in five fights for the Alabama native, leading many to speculate about his retirement. However, the former WBC heavyweight champion is clearly not ready to hang up his gloves yet.

A victory against Herndon could put the 39-year-old back into contention for another significant fight.

Wilder enters Friday night`s contest as the heavy favorite, but his opponent is coming off three consecutive wins and this represents the biggest opportunity of his career.
