Rusal, who was known by the military call sign “Amigo,” had a notable career, previously holding the IBO intercontinental championship title. He made the commitment to join the military service in 2022.

The heartbreaking news of his death was confirmed by his former coach, Alexander Likhter, who posted a tribute on his social media page.

“Unfortunately, the information has been confirmed. Our boxer Vitaliy Rusal died at the front. Eternal memory to Vitaliy and condolences to his family,” wrote Alexander Likhter, expressing deep sadness over the loss of the veteran fighter.
