José Delano emerged victorious after a hard-fought and engaging contest against Robert Ruchała, commencing the main card of UFC Vegas 115 on Saturday.
The bout began with both competitors showing aggression. While Ruchała demonstrated higher activity, Delano’s strikes proved more impactful, effectively blending jabs and kicks in close quarters. This pattern persisted into the second round, where Delano grew increasingly self-assured, causing visible damage to Ruchała’s nose.
Entering the third round with the contest potentially even, both Ruchała and Delano unleashed a barrage of strikes. With approximately two minutes remaining, Ruchała initiated a clinch, attempting to take Delano down. Nevertheless, Delano countered effectively, gaining dominant double underhooks and almost completing a takedown himself.
Ruchała avoided the takedown only by overtly grabbing the fence with both hands. This clear foul led referee Keith Peterson to halt the action and deduct a point from Ruchała.
Following the restart, the fighters resumed their struggle against the cage, eventually breaking apart as the final minute approached.
With the point deduction, Ruchała was in a precarious position, likely needing a stoppage to claim victory. However, ‘The Faker’ displayed a lack of urgency in the concluding moments. Ultimately, the fight proceeded to the judges’ scorecards, resulting in a predictable outcome.
Official Outcome: José Delano defeated Robert Ruchała by unanimous decision (30-26, 29-27, 29-27).
