Terrance McKinney made quick work of his opponent at UFC 317.

After a longer heavyweight bout started Saturday`s pay-per-view event, it wasn`t long before attendees saw the first stoppage of the night.

Following a decision victory in a previous fight, the early preliminary card concluded with a dominant performance from Terrance McKinney, known for his finishes. He quickly defeated the always-game Viacheslav Borshchev.

McKinney`s Sub-Minute Victory Over Borshchev

McKinney, nicknamed `T.Wrecks`, is famous for his explosive fight starts, a trait he showcased from his very first UFC appearance.

His UFC debut at UFC 263 saw him secure a record-breaking seven-second knockout against Matt Frevola. While not setting a new record this time, McKinney achieved similarly rapid success at UFC 317.

The American fighter quickly overwhelmed Borshchev, rushing him immediately, securing a takedown, and promptly applying a guillotine choke. This rapid attack put him in contention for a performance bonus early in the event.

Despite Borshchev`s desperate attempts to escape, reminiscent of Alexander Volkanovski`s famous defense against Brian Ortega at UFC 266, he was ultimately forced to tap out.

Reaction to the Rapid Finish

This victory significantly added to McKinney`s impressive MMA statistics.

`T.Wrecks` has now achieved 16 first-round finishes out of his 17 professional victories. His only win that went beyond the first round was a third-round submission early in his career (his fourth fight).

Every one of McKinney`s seven wins inside the UFC octagon has come in the first round, making him the fighter with the most first-round finishes in the promotion since 2021.

Commenting on the speed of his win, McKinney humorously posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Sorry that took so long.”

Beyond the impressive speed, this win marks the first time McKinney has secured three consecutive victories in his UFC career.

He is now looking to maintain this momentum and potentially challenge for a spot in the lightweight top 15 rankings.
