Friendship will be set aside when former Bellator bantamweight champions Sergio Pettis and Raufeon Stots step into the cage.

These two prominent former titleholders are scheduled to face each other at the PFL event on June 27th, which will take place at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. The highly-anticipated Pettis vs. Stots bout is being promoted as a showcase fight and is set to open the main card, a lineup that also features semifinal contests in the light heavyweight and middleweight tournaments.

With a professional record of 23 wins and 7 losses, Pettis is looking to rebound from a recent and uncommon losing streak, entering this fight after consecutive defeats at the hands of Kyoji Horiguchi and Patchy Mix. Prior to this challenging period, Pettis enjoyed a dominant run, securing three straight victories in bantamweight championship bouts. He initially claimed the title from Juan Archuleta, followed by a memorable knockout win over Kyoji Horiguchi, and successfully defended his belt against Patricio Pitbull, notably preventing “Pitbull” from achieving a historic three-division championship.

His championship reign concluded when he lost the title to Patchy Mix at Bellator 301. In his most recent outing, he faced Horiguchi again, suffering a loss in a rematch at a RIZIN event held last June.

Stots, holding a record of 21 wins and 2 losses, has successfully bounced back with two consecutive victories since his own championship defeat to Patchy Mix. The former interim titleholder recently secured back-to-back wins over Marcos Breno and his long-standing rival, Danny Sabatello.

The PFL event on June 27th will be headlined by a middleweight semifinal bout featuring Fabian Edwards against Josh Silveira, while the co-main event will showcase light heavyweight competitors Phil Davis and Sullivan Cauley. The card also includes other tournament semifinal matchups across various weight classes.
