Emanuel Navarrete (39-2-1, 32 KO) and Charly Suarez (18-0, 10 KO) successfully made weight for the featherweight division during the official weigh-in event held in San Diego. Their upcoming bout is scheduled to contest the WBO world featherweight championship title.
For Navarrete, the Mexican fighter who last entered the ring in December, this contest represents his fourth defense of the World Boxing Organization championship belt. Meanwhile, Suarez, a Filipino competitor, is set to challenge for a world title for the very first time in his professional career.
The fight card for this same evening will also feature a significant matchup for the interim IBF world lightweight title between Raymond Muratalla (22-0, 17 KO) and Zaur Abdullaev (20-1, 12 KO). The victor of this eliminator fight will become the mandatory challenger for Vasiliy Lomachenko, who holds the undisputed IBF championship in this weight class. Both parties are expected to finalize arrangements for this mandatory title fight by no later than October.
