Mike Perry: Nate Diaz Fight Set to Be My Biggest Career Payday
Most Valuable Promotions recently announced a highly anticipated matchup between Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship's 'King of Violence' Mike Perry and UFC legend Nate Diaz. This fight is slated to be a significant feature on the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano card.
Despite the announcement being made only days ago, the fight promotion had reportedly been working to finalize this bout for several months.
During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Perry shed light on the lengthy negotiation process, mentioning subtle hints he had dropped on social media about his MMA training. He conveyed the immense anticipation surrounding the fight, noting that some fans are even calling it 'the people's main event.'
Perry expressed his excitement and commitment, stating, "It's going to be an exciting fight for sure. I'm training my ass off. I have this excitement inside of me to be my best for this fight, so I'm looking forward to showing that to the fans."
This event marks a major milestone for Perry, as it will be the first mixed martial arts card to stream on Netflix, promising an audience larger than any fight he has previously participated in. More importantly, Perry disclosed that this bout is poised to yield the largest payday of his extensive, nearly 22-year combat sports career.
When directly questioned about whether this would be his most financially rewarding fight, Perry unequivocally responded, "Yeah, for sure."
He further elaborated on a personal mantra: "The next one is always the best one. This is the next one. I've been saying that. It's locked in. I've been saying that for 20 years, I swear." Perry also extended his appreciation to Diaz for helping to secure the matchup, recognizing it as a culmination of his hard work throughout his career.
With the bout agreements now officially signed, Perry feels a sense of relief and assurance that the fight will indeed happen. He confidently cited Nate Diaz's well-known reputation for always showing up to fights.
Perry underscored this reliability, proclaiming, "Nate Diaz and the Diaz crew, they don't pull out of fights. So, this is a sure thing because I don't either. So, we're pulling up May 16, man. MMA fight. I'm looking to be extremely damaging."
