Michael Chandler is eager to finally resolve a long-standing rivalry on the grandest stage imaginable. Conor McGregor has publicly identified Chandler as his preferred opponent for the UFC`s anticipated event at the White House in 2026. Their initial clash was scheduled for UFC 303 last year, but McGregor`s withdrawal due to injury a few weeks prior to the event prevented it from happening. McGregor has even asserted that his return to the Octagon for this specific event is already finalized.
In a recent interview with Bloody Elbow, Chandler, who previously coached opposite McGregor on The Ultimate Fighter, shared his thoughts on the prospect of fighting `The Notorious` next year.

Chandler Discusses Waiting for McGregor and White House Fight
Despite Conor McGregor`s uncertainty regarding his overall UFC career future, he remains resolute about competing at the White House event. Last month, Michael Chandler expressed confidence that this long-awaited matchup would finally materialize at the White House event, following years of anticipation.
During an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, the former lightweight title challenger was questioned about the latest developments concerning a fight with McGregor and his intentions to potentially wait until the White House event for his return.
“We share a history,” Chandler stated. “I am the opponent he desires, and he is the opponent I desire. It would undeniably be an extraordinary event if it were to happen.”
When pressed about his remaining career aspirations, Chandler once again pointed towards 2026, implying he does not anticipate competing before then.
“I still have a lot to give,” he remarked, “and naturally, there are some significant fights next year that I would be thrilled to be a part of.”

Chandler Utilizes Downtime for Ventures Alongside Training
Michael Chandler has faced criticism in recent years for prioritizing a fight with Conor McGregor, a decision that has kept him sidelined from active competition. On a recent episode of the JRE MMA Show (#170), Joe Rogan discussed Chandler`s impressive history of intense fights and his remarkable ability to prolong his career in the sport.
“Chandler remains incredibly durable, which is a testament to his discipline and hard work… However, he is now 38 years old.”
Despite maintaining strict training routines, Chandler also shared with Bloody Elbow how his current downtime has opened doors for him to explore other business ventures. For instance, `Iron` Mike recently forged a partnership with Phorm Energy, an energy drink brand that Dana White invested in earlier this year.
“Phorm Energy represents grit, peak performance, and the relentless drive to surpass boundaries—values I embody daily,” Chandler stated. “I’m excited to collaborate with Phorm Energy and invite fans to join us as we build something impactful. This partnership extends beyond just energy; it’s about motivating individuals to unleash their full potential.”
