Chael Sonnen Foresees Difficulty for Khamzat Chimaev in Taking Down Dricus Du Plessis
Chael Sonnen acknowledges Khamzat Chimaev`s status as the favorite for the clash against Dricus Du Plessis but refrains from dismissing the current UFC champion`s chances.
The veteran analyst is confident that Du Plessis, known as `Stillknocks`, possesses sufficient grappling ability to pose a significant challenge to Chimaev.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Sonnen, also known as ‘The American Gangster’, remarked: “How will he defeat him? I`m not entirely certain Chimaev can secure takedowns whenever he wants, nor am I sure he can keep him grounded.
“We`ll understand the situation early in the first round. Should Dricus be taken down, the fight could quickly fall apart for him. Yet, if he successfully defends takedowns throughout the initial five minutes, the fight will likely become more manageable for him afterwards.
He concluded: “It`s an intriguing matchup, and I anticipated Chimaev being the favorite, which is the case.”
