The management team of Australian heavyweight Justis Huni (12-1, 7 KOs) has officially submitted a protest regarding his recent early defeat in the tenth round against Fabio Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KOs). The bout, contested for the WBA heavyweight title, saw a contentious referee stoppage.
Huni`s representatives contend that the fight was brought to an end too quickly by the referee following a knockdown. At the time of the stoppage, after nine completed rounds, Huni held a significant lead on all three judges` scorecards, with scores of 89-82, 89-82, and 88-83. This advantage suggested he was on course for a clear points victory, even while competing in Wardley`s home territory.
It is noteworthy that Justis Huni is co-promoted by Eddie Hearn, a prominent figure in boxing, while Fabio Wardley is under contract with Frank Warren, another influential promoter in the sport.
