Following a violent confrontation during the third season of Russia’s TUF-like reality show, ALF Reality 3, where Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier served as opposing coaches, Cormier expressed a strong desire to immediately quit the project and return home. However, his long-time rival, Jon Jones, unexpectedly assumed the role of peacemaker, convincing “DC” to remain and complete the filming.
What Transpired on the Show
In the third episode of ALF Reality 3, a heated brawl erupted between two fighters. One participant, after being struck in the face, rushed to the kitchen and seized a knife, seemingly for self-defense. Jon Jones had to intervene swiftly, disarming the fighter to prevent any serious injuries. Other participants on set also assisted in de-escalating the situation, urging those involved in the altercation to calm down.
After this intense skirmish, everyone on the film set, including both Jones and Cormier, felt their safety was compromised. Once the immediate danger subsided, Cormier informed the assembled group that he was considering abandoning the production and wished to fly back home. He declared, “I think we’re gonna go home. I might give them their money back and stay home. I can’t do this sh*t. It’s too much. Somebody’s going to get hurt bad. Like, bad. Somebody’s going to get hurt really bad.”

Throughout the reality series’ filming, “Bones” and “DC” showed no inclination to repair their contentious relationship, continuing their verbal sparring. Yet, following the chaotic brawl, Jon Jones stepped in decisively. He made it clear to everyone on set that if Cormier were to leave, he, too, would contemplate withdrawing from the show.
Jones then implored all the fighters to set aside their personal grievances and prevent the situation from spiraling out of control. He emphasized that their collective goal was to produce compelling television, which would be impossible if one of the lead coaches quit midway through the season.
Jon Jones stated: “Right now, one of our coaches is debating on staying. At the end of the day, Daniel Cormier is a big star in America. He’s a father, he’s a coach. It’s his responsibility to make sure that his team is safe while they’re out here. At the end of the day, this competition, we’re all on the same team.”
He further elaborated: “I know you guys have real conflicts, but ultimately, our goal is to make good TV. If we lose one of our coaches, we can’t make good TV. The fighting, the violence, it’s a lot of fun. But nothing on this show is worth losing your life, whether that’s in the ground or in jail. I understand how Daniel feels, because when I see things like knives, I personally don’t want to be here either. So guys, please don’t make it hard for myself or Daniel by making this show life-threatening.”
Following Jones’s impactful address to the team, the atmosphere in the room visibly calmed, and a sense of shared understanding prevailed. Subsequently, “Bones” extended his gratitude to “DC” for his decision to remain on the show.
