Johnny Fisher shares that critics were ready to attack after his debated victory over Dave Allen.

In December, Fisher was knocked down in the fifth round during their bout in Saudi Arabia, but he ultimately secured a contested split-decision win.

Leading up to that fight, the popular “Romford Bull” and his social media famous father, Big John, had received immense support and praise.

However, Fisher, known for his high ticket sales, felt that people turned against him in the aftermath of the contest.

He told SunSport: “If you`re a professional boxer or any public figure, you`re going to receive negative comments.

“And when it`s a close fight, people are waiting with their knives to criticize and undermine you. But those who understand boxing knew it was a tight contest.”

“I believe I won by one round. I don`t disagree with those who thought it could have gone the other way or ended in a draw.”

“But looking at it objectively, I thought I won by one round, and that indicates a close fight. So, we can definitely do it again.”

Fisher`s popularity has been greatly boosted by the online affection for his father, “Big John,” particularly known for his love of Chinese takeaway.

However, Fisher Sr. bore the brunt of the criticism following his son`s disputed win in Riyadh, defending Johnny on social media against those they considered close allies.

Fisher Jr. commented: “He`s my dad, we`re very similar. If my son were in that situation and people you thought were friends, people who visited your house, were causing drama and creating hysteria, I would do the exact same thing for my son.”

Fisher ended up in hospital after the intense 12 rounds against Allen but revealed he actually enjoyed the tough, back-and-forth battle.

He stated: “Those are the moments you dream of as a professional fighter.”

“You can`t do it all the time, but showing people I`m not just a knockout artist, that I can tough it out โ€“ that`s another significant positive.”

“That`s what you live for; that`s why we provide entertainment.”

Now, the 26-year-old Fisher is set to rematch the 33-year-old Allen this Saturday at his familiar venue, the Copper Box Arena, determined to answer the strong doubts.

He said: “It was always in the back of my mind that I wanted to have the rematch because it was such a close fight.”

“But then I watched it back and still thought I won by one round. There are always other opportunities โ€“ this rematch isn`t everything in my life.”

“However, part of me wanted to do it again โ€“ so let`s make it happen.”
