One of the most exciting fighters in the featherweight division appears to have departed the UFC.

Alex Caceres, a veteran featherweight and former headliner, had been competing in the Octagon since 2010.

An alumnus of ‘The Ultimate Fighter 12’, Caceres remained on the UFC roster for 14 years, during which he faced notable opponents such as Urijah Faber, Yair Rodriguez, Sergio Pettis, and Giga Chikadze.

While still listed on the active UFC roster at the time of writing, news regarding Caceres’ next fight outside the promotion has come as a surprise.

Alex Caceres Books Post-UFC Fight at Dirty Boxing Championship

It was recently announced that Caceres is scheduled to fight former UFC competitor Saidyokub Kakhramonov on June 14th in Miami, Florida, at Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship, rather than in the Octagon.

Dirty Boxing is a new combat sport hybrid that blends MMA and boxing rules, utilizing four-ounce gloves. Competitors are permitted to punch, slap, elbow, and even follow up with ground and pound strikes.

The featherweight bout between Caceres and Kakhramonov is slated to co-headline DBX 2. The main event will feature former UFC heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik taking on Devon Schwan.

Although Caceres’ name has not yet been removed from the official active UFC roster, this booking strongly suggests the conclusion of his extensive 30-fight career with the organization.

Alex Caceres Racked Up 8 Performance Bonuses During UFC Run

Caceres leaves the UFC following two consecutive decision losses, first to Giga Chikadze in 2023 and then to Sean Woodson approximately a year ago.

Known as ‘Bruce Leeroy’, he held a winning record of 16-13 (1 NC) within the Octagon. Over his UFC tenure, he earned a total of $400,000 from eight performance bonuses.

In 2016, Caceres took former interim champion Yair Rodriguez to a close split decision in their initial main event encounter, a fight that garnered both participants ‘Fight of the Night’ honors.

The fan-favorite fighter once enjoyed a five-fight winning streak in the featherweight division, defeating opponents including Chase Hooper, Kevin Croom, and Steven Peterson, which propelled him into the top-15 rankings.

One of Caceres` most memorable performances occurred in 2014 when he submitted former Bellator champion Sergio Pettis in an exciting contest that earned Caceres $100,000 in post-fight bonuses.
