The return of a UFC flyweight fighter to the Octagon has been postponed until 2027. On Tuesday, Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), the UFC’s anti-doping partner, announced a one-year suspension for Alibi Idiris due to a violation of anti-doping regulations.

Idiris tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide, a prohibited diuretic and masking agent known to conceal the presence of other banned substances by accelerating fluid loss. The 31-year-old Kazakh fighter’s suspension stems from a sample collected on February 21, 2026, following his unanimous decision victory over Ode Osbourne at UFC Houston.

In a statement, the UFC noted that Idiris cooperated with investigators and admitted to using the substance during his weight cut. However, despite his admission, CSAD chose not to reduce the penalty. With the suspension applied retroactively, he will be ineligible to compete until February 21, 2027.

“CSAD will not suspend or reduce his period of ineligibility due to the seriousness of knowingly using a diuretic during fight week and the advantage he gained in making his contracted weight.”

In addition to the suspension, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) nullified his win over Osbourne. As the substance is also prohibited under state regulations, the fight result has been officially overturned to a no-contest.

How Did Alibi Idiris Secure His UFC Contract?

Alibi Idiris participated in Season 33 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) as a member of Team Cormier. He began his campaign in February 2025 with a unanimous decision victory over Furkatbek Yokubov, followed by an impressive knockout win against Roybert Echeverria in the semifinals the following month.

Idiris then faced Joseph Morales in the TUF 33 finale at UFC 319 last August but was submitted via triangle choke in the second round. Despite this setback, he made a strong enough impression to earn a UFC contract and subsequently fought Ode Osbourne.

His current professional record stands at 11 wins, 1 loss, and 1 no-contest, with six of his victories coming by knockout.
