His impressive amateur performances led to him representing Team GB and serving as a sparring partner for heavyweight star Anthony Joshua.

Transitioning to professional boxing, Orie signed with Frank Warren`s Queensberry Promotions. However, after winning his only professional fight in February, the British boxer, who was born in Moscow, has decided to end his career in the ring to focus on a completely different path.

Explaining his decision in a statement, Orie said: “After much reflection, I have decided to hang up my gloves and retire from boxing to follow up on my degree and enter the corporate world.”

He expressed deep gratitude for his boxing journey, stating the sport provided him with “incredible memories, unforgettable experiences travelling the world and many opportunities to represent my country at the biggest stages.”

Orie admitted that his passion for boxing had faded over time, and that turning professional did not reignite his love for the sport as he had hoped. He emphasized the importance of honesty, saying, “Every fighter knows you need a deep love for the craft to reach the top – and without it, there’s no path forward… Out of respect for the sport and for myself, it’s time to step away with honesty.”

He extended thanks to everyone who supported him, including his coaches, teammates, staff at GB Boxing, promoters Frank and George Warren, and the team at Steel City Gym.
