Conor McGregor has officially confirmed that he has signed a contract for his highly anticipated return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The superstar fighter, known as `Notorious`, has been out of action since July 2021, when he sustained a leg injury during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
Speculation has been rife in recent months regarding McGregor`s comeback, with strong links suggesting a monumental fight at the White House. This unique event, scheduled for June 2026, will be hosted by the UFC at President Donald Trump`s official residence, commemorating the United States` 250th birthday.

McGregor Verifies UFC Return
McGregor has been a vocal proponent of headlining the historic UFC White House card, and he recently revealed that he was in advanced negotiations with the U.S. government for the bout. Just days later, the Irish icon announced that a deal has been finalized, and he has signed the contract for his comeback.
“It’s a done deal, signed, delivered. It ain’t a negotiation. It’s a done deal, signed, delivered,” McGregor stated to Sean Hannity.
He further elaborated on the significance of the event:
“McGregor will compete in the White House for America’s 250th birthday. Me and Dana [White] are in constant communication, we’ve done incredible business together. I’m the highest-generating fighter of all time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. They’ve just signed a breathtaking deal with Paramount, where we go to cable TV. $7.7 billion that deal was approved for. I’m ready to rock, baby. Bring in the big dog, the ‘Mac G’.”
McGregor`s Preparation for the White House Bout
Hours before his official announcement, McGregor discussed his preparation strategy during a media roundtable at BKFC 82. The 37-year-old detailed his approach to returning to competition after a hiatus of over four years.
McGregor provided an update on his “operation” to ensure he is fully ready for what is anticipated to be the most significant UFC event ever.
“Eight months and change out to the White House event. It’s a six-month operation… You know, I consider it a six-month operation to get ready for this belt. And that’s my focus right now. I’m just eager to, you know, climb the steps into being ready for my return. There’s a lot at stake, and I’m very excited at the opportunity,” McGregor shared with reporters.
