Vitoria Brum, the wife of UFC sensation Charles Oliveira, has issued a sharp rebuke to Mauricio Ruffy following his critical comments regarding Oliveira’s performance at UFC 326.

Earlier this month, “Do Bronxs” impressively captured the BMF strap by defeating Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 326. Oliveira secured a comfortable unanimous decision victory, landing 110 total strikes, executing 5 takedowns, and maintaining control for over 20 minutes of the fight.

Despite this dominant display, Oliveira’s wrestling-heavy strategy in a BMF title bout, where many fans anticipated a more aggressive striking battle, drew criticism. Fans, analysts, UFC CEO Dana White, and even Nate Diaz, the creator of the BMF belt, were among those who voiced their disapproval of the fight’s tactical nature.

The sentiment extended to current two-time UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, who suggested that the promotion might consider retiring the BMF belt after the outcome of UFC 326. Mauricio Ruffy recently added his voice to the chorus of critics, questioning Oliveira’s approach to victory in the rematch with Holloway. He conveyed to Laerte Viana:

“[Charles] did what nobody expected, which was to stick to him [Max Holloway] from start to finish. If you go in just to grab someone, in the UFC business, you end up losing opportunities.”

It was rumored that the winner of the Max Holloway vs. Charles Oliveira 2 fight would potentially face Conor McGregor upon his highly anticipated return, possibly during International Fight Week in July. However, Ruffy believes that the UFC would lose interest in a potential “Do Bronxs” vs. McGregor matchup after what he termed the “UFC 326 snooze fest.” He further elaborated:

“Charles had an incredible fight, but surely the UFC won’t want to see him grabbing and holding [McGregor], and Conor won’t put himself in that position either.”

Charles Oliveira’s Wife Strikes Back at Mauricio Ruffy

Charles Oliveira’s wife, Vitoria Brum, swiftly addressed Mauricio Ruffy’s remarks. Brum sarcastically corrected Ruffy, reminding him that “this is f***ing MMA,” not boxing, implying that grappling is an integral part of the sport.

“Then let’s schedule a boxing match, because if you want a fight, this is f***ing MMA, there will be jiu-jitsu!”

She then delivered a pointed jab, sternly advising Ruffy to not “ride the wave” of her husband’s success, highlighting that Oliveira boasts more submission victories (22) than Ruffy has had professional fights (15).

“Ruffy, don’t come trying to ride the wave of my husband, because he has more submissions than you have fights!”
