Boxer Anthony Joshua has provided an update on his recovery process following recent elbow surgery, signaling his imminent return to training.

Joshua underwent the procedure two weeks ago to address an arm injury that had kept him out of action.

He gave his followers a brief look at his rehabilitation by sharing a video of himself shadowboxing on social media. Posting on his Snapchat account, he wrote: “2 weeks post operation. Back to the grind in a few days.”

The 35-year-old Joshua was previously defeated by Daniel Dubois (27) at Wembley, and there was initial talk of an immediate rematch. However, those plans did not come to fruition, as Dubois is now set to face Oleksandr Usyk again on July 19 in London, two years after his loss to the Ukrainian.

Tyson Fury (36) was beaten by Usyk twice last year and announced his retirement in January after the second bout. Despite this, AJ`s promoter, Eddie Hearn, remains optimistic that the unpredictable “Gypsy King” might reverse his decision and fight Joshua.

Discussions are reportedly in progress with Saudi boxing figure Turki Alalshikh regarding a potential new two-fight deal.

Speaking to BoxingScene in late May, Hearn confirmed, “He`s had the operation, which went very well, and now he`s just sort of rehabbing it.” Hearn estimated Joshua could begin punching effectively again in approximately six weeks, which would align with a possible fight in September, October, or November.

He added that this timeframe allows for assessing the outcome of the Dubois vs. Usyk rematch and seeing if Fury decides to return to the ring, emphasizing that Joshua is “definitely fighting this year and looking forward to it.”
