New Polling Shows Trump Building a Bigger Lead on DeSantis

The new polling was released on March 21st and March 22nd.

A Morning Consult Poll released Tuesday shows Donald Trump vastly expanding his lead on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the 2024 GOP Primary. Tuesday’s numbers are DeSantis’ lowest numbers regarding the 2024 GOP primary. DeSantis has faced backlash from Republican voters for his weak stance on Trump’s pending indictment. In addition, FiveThirtyEight released a poll on Wednesday that shows Donald Trump holding a 6-point lead over Joe Biden in the 2024 general election.

Morning Consult’s new polling shows 54 percent of GOP voter support President Trump compared to 26 percent of GOP voters who support Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In the same poll, Mike Pence has 7 percent of support, Nikki Hayley has 4 percent, Liz Cheney has 3 percent, and Greg Abbot, Kristi Noem, Mike Pompeo, Glen Youngkin, Tim Scott, and Vivek Ramaswamy all have 1 percent. Trump’s 28-point lead on DeSantis is 4 points larger than the previous Morning Consult poll, which National File covered at the time of its release.

Governor DeSantis’ 26 percent showing in the latest Morning Consult polling is the worst number to date that the Florida Governor has received. DeSantis has received blowback from GOP voters for his weak stance on Trump’s impending indictment. At a press conference on Monday, when asked about Trump’s impending arrest, DeSantis said, ” I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA. I have to deal with issues here in the State of Florida. I’m fighting for Floridians.”

FiveThirtyEight polling released on Wednesday shows Donald Trump with a commanding 47 percent to 41 percent lead over Joe Biden in the 2024 general election. Trump’s 6-point lead over Biden would result in a massive electoral college victory for Trump. The newest FiveThirtyEight poll also shows Trump has gained 8 points on Biden since FiveThrityEight’s last polling.

Donald Trump’s poll numbers continue to rise despite Democrat efforts to arrest and charge him. Democrats’ efforts to arrest the opposition party’s leader are unheard of in American history.
