Mixed martial arts competitor Arman Tsarukyan, despite not yet securing a shot at the UFC lightweight championship, continues to make headlines both inside and outside competitive arenas. His recent appearance at Real American Freestyle 6 on Saturday saw him secure a victory, though not without significant controversy.
Tsarukyan faced Georgio Poullas in the co-main event, and from the outset, the grappling match took an unexpected turn. Both athletes seemed more inclined to trade slaps than engage in traditional wrestling, setting an unusual tone for the contest.
The intensity only grew from there. After two rounds, Tsarukyan held a 4-1 lead. However, the third round brought an escalation of action as Poullas aggressively pushed the pace, attempting to narrow the score gap. With time winding down and Tsarukyan ahead 5-3, Poullas made a desperate attempt for a last-second takedown. Tsarukyan successfully defended, but then controversially delivered a punch while on top of his opponent.
This single strike immediately triggered an explosive reaction, as members from both teams stormed the mat, transforming the wrestling area into an uncontrolled melee. After several minutes of disarray, order was eventually restored. Tsarukyan departed the scene, while Poullas was notably escorted backstage by former UFC interim champion Colby Covington.
Official Result: Arman Tsarukyan defeated Georgio Poullas (5-3).
