Tensions are running high in one of the highly anticipated bouts at UFC 320. The main event of Saturday`s pay-per-view card features a light heavyweight title rematch between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev. The animosity between the headliners has been a central theme of fight week, particularly after Pereira accused Ankalaev of avoiding him at the UFC Performance Institute. However, they are not the only fighters at UFC 320 experiencing intense rivalry.

Yana Santos Outraged by Macy Chiasson`s Repeated Weight Miss at UFC 320

Before the main event and the co-main event, which pits Merab Dvalishvili against Cory Sandhagen for a title defense, two top-10 women`s bantamweight contenders were scheduled to compete. Fifth-ranked Macy Chiasson aimed to boost her championship aspirations in the 135-pound division, having secured victories in her last two fights. However, her hopes were significantly impacted by failing to make weight by 1.5 pounds on Friday.

Yana Santos, Chiasson`s opponent, expressed her strong displeasure with the weight miss. She criticized Chiasson on social media, highlighting that this was Chiasson`s second weight infraction in the UFC.

Santos posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Imagine signing a contract and showing up overweight AGAIN. Some of us respect the grind. Others disrespect the sport. See you Saturday.”

Adding to the controversy, Santos further alleged that Chiasson declined an offer from the commission for an additional hour to make weight, leading Santos to suspect that her opponent intentionally sought an unfair competitive edge.

According to Santos, “The worst part? The commission offered her an extra hour to make weight. She REFUSED.” She elaborated, stating, “Why? Because she wants an unfair advantage. This isn’t just unprofessional—it’s straight-up dirty.”

Thiago Santos Demands Harsher Penalties for Weight Misses After UFC 320 Incident

Yana was not alone in voicing dissatisfaction over Chiasson`s failure to make weight. Her husband, former UFC standout Thiago Santos, also joined the criticism on social media, targeting Yana`s UFC 320 adversary for missing the bantamweight limit.

`Marreta`, known for his past title challenge against Jon Jones, advocated for more severe consequences for fighters who miss weight.

Thiago posted on X: “Unbelievable how some people are not professional in this sport.” He added: “It’s Yana’s 4th opponent that didn’t make the weight. Some (stronger) punishments (have) to be made.”
