PFL has announced its return to France with an event scheduled for September 26th in Nantes. The fight card will be headlined by local favorite Abdoul Abdouraguimov, although his opponent has not yet been confirmed by the promotion.
This upcoming event marks PFL`s first time holding a show in France since a planned event in Paris on May 26th was cancelled. It was the second instance where the promotion had to cancel a show slated for the French capital.
In addition to the main event, the Nantes card is set to feature the semifinals of the PFL Europe lightweight and bantamweight tournaments. Competitors who emerge victorious from these bouts will secure their spot in the Dec. 13th finals taking place in Lyon, where they will compete for a significant $100,000 prize.
Known as “Lazy King,” Abdouraguimov, originally from Dagestan but based in Nantes, has built an impressive record under the PFL Europe banner, securing three consecutive victories since 2023. His recent win came via a decision over UFC veteran Laureano Staropoli in the main event of a December 2024 show in Décines-Charpieu, France.
“PFL is coming home,” Abdouraguimov stated in a promotional release. “After 21 professional fights, I can finally fight in front of my home crowd, where I grew up and learned this sport. And now, it’s at the Zenith Nantes Metropole that I’m going to do the next Lazy Show. Grab a seat, some popcorn, and be good, but not too much, because I’m here to entertain you on September 26, let’s go!”
Abdouraguimov is currently riding a nine-fight winning streak. Prior to signing with PFL, this impressive run included quick title wins in Ares FC over fellow veterans Godofredo Pepey and Karl Amoussou, making him a two-division champion at both welterweight and middleweight.
