Promoter Frank Warren has announced extraordinary demand for the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KO) and Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KO), with an impressive 60,000 tickets sold within the initial 24-hour sales period. The highly anticipated heavyweight title fight is scheduled to take place on July 19 and will serve as the main event for a major boxing card held at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London.
Usyk, who currently holds the WBA, WBO, and WBC world heavyweight championship belts, previously met Daniel Dubois, described as the IBF belt holder in the initial report, in August 2023. Their first encounter occurred in Wroclaw, Poland, where the Ukrainian champion secured a victory via knockout in the ninth round.
Recently, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) had ordered Dubois to fulfill a mandatory title defense requirement against fellow British heavyweight Derek Chisora. However, Dubois was granted special dispensation to postpone this mandatory bout against the official challenger in order to pursue this significant rematch against Usyk.
The upcoming event is expected to be broadcast live internationally on the DAZN streaming service. For Usyk, this bout is widely considered to be among the final fights of his illustrious professional boxing career. For Dubois, the fight marks his return to action following his notable victory over Anthony Joshua last year.
